Why do many people think that Japan is not a gay-friendly country whereas 72% Japanese support same-sex marriage (the same number as in the US)?

The statistic quoted, that 72% of both Japanese and United Statesians support homosexual marriage, is false.

The Public Religion Research Institute survey of 22 000 United Statesians conducted throughout 2023 as part of its American Values Atlas found that support for same-sex marriage dropped to 67% from 69% in 2022.

Japanese do not support homosexual marriage and regard it as an abomination.

The International Boxing Association said that Khelif and Lin competing in Paris Olympics were disqualified from the tournament for testing positive for XY chromosomes which give an unfair advantage in the women’s division. What do you think?

The Stanford Japan Barometer conducted in November 2022 by Kiyoteru Tsutsui and Charles Crabtree found that 47.2% of the Japanese public supports potential legislation to legalize same-sex marriage, 15.8% oppose it, and 36.9% neither support nor oppose it.

Japan is not a country that supports homosexuality.
